Meet our 22-23 PVO Board

My name is Stevie Shannon. I have been on the PVO board since 2018. My daughter is in 5th grade and has been going to TSMS since Kindergarten. My major goal for 2022 – 2023 is to find better ways to raise money for the school than we have in the past. We are consistently doing things for the staff and teachers, and it would be nice to provide them with amazing monthly surprises.

Hi my name is Hagar Mahmoud and this is my first year serving on the PVO Board! I am originally from New Jersey and moved to Tallahassee last December. I have a five-year-old daughter who is now in kindergarten at TSMS. Although this is my first time as a PVO member, I have a long history of volunteering with youth and organizing events for kids in New Jersey. I look forward to getting involved with the TSMS community and having a fun year!

I’m married to my husband of 9 years, Keith, & we have one child, who is in 4th grade at TSMS. This is our 3rd year at TSMS. We moved to Tallahassee from Panama City about 7 years ago. We enjoy traveling & multiple yearly Disney trips as a family. In my spare time, enjoy reading & doing cross-stitch

Alicia Valenzuela-Aguilar is a local licensed Realtor which understands how much networking can work hand and hand with the fundraising department, therefore benefitting TSMS. Born and raised in Tallahassee she has chosen TSMS for her 3 boys (4th grader, 3rd grader, 1st grader). With a combined 5 years in the TSMS family, she is honored and excited to serve as Fundraising co-chair.
Akuta Hector Okeoma (Extracurricular Activities Chair)
Hector Akuta is a PhD student at the College of Engineering FAMU-FSU. He moved into the US from Nigeria to enhance his experience in engineering research. David Akuta is his child, who joined TSMS 2022-23 academic year in 6th Grade. David and Hector love Math, Science and Sports alike. Hector's nephew or David's cousin as you want to address it is top ten body builder in the world: sport is a run in his family.
Hector hopes to bring their family enthusiasm in sport to the students of TSMS through his leadership in this academic year.

I am Carrie Melendez, the mother of Serina, who is currently in 1st Grade! This is our second year at TSMS, and we love everything about this school, which is why I am excited to be joining the TSMS PVO Board this year! I have accepted the role of Special Events Coordinator and my goal will be to help create fun and memorable Special Events that will allow parents, teachers, staff, and students to feel the shared love and support that only the TSMS Community can bring when working together

Ivory Avant Paige is a licensed clinical social worker and attorney with a true love for crafting and event planning.
She and her husband are new to the TSMS family with one daughter who just started Kindergarten this fall. She
hopes to work jointly with the PVO Board team to coordinate exciting and engaging events for the entire TSMS community.

My name is Joshua Shelton Sr. I’m a State of Florida Employee. My young scholar is none other than Bailey J.
Shelton a beautiful Kindergartener. This is our first year at TSMS and we are loving it. My goal this year is for
the family’s voice to be heard and needs.
